Gail has considerable experience leading funded projects involving both academic and industry collaborations (with for instance Ministry for Women, MBIE, Productivity Commission, Ministry of Education, and so on). She is an applied empirical and labour economist and her key research expertise lies in applying econometric methodology to the emerging areas of labour and health research. Her current research agenda focusses on the gender pay gap, explaining ethnic differences in educational attainment, and numerous other projects utilising linked administrative data. She currently also holds the post of Editor in Chief of New Zealand Economic Papers.
