Tertiary Education Scholarship
Every year the YWCA Auckland offers a Tertiary Education
Scholarship to assist a young woman (aged 16 to 30) to understand
the role of governance in a non-profit organisation and to provide
the Board with another young woman's perspective on the activities
of the YWCA.
The scholarship grants $3,000 for tertiary
study to provide assistance with course-related costs, for
example; textbooks, fees, laptop computer, course related software.
It is paid in two instalments over the
year.
The young woman selected for the scholarship will be required to
take part in YWCA activities by becoming an ex-officio member of
the Board. This will involve attending the monthly evening meeting
of the Board, 11 meetings in total including the Annual General
Meeting, and taking a full role in discussing policies and
procedures for the organisation. Mentoring in this role
will be provided from an existing Board member along with ongoing
support.
Congratulations to Angela Lim, the recipient of our 2011/12
Tertiary Education Scholarship.
