Info for Students

You have been selected to represent your school by becoming
a part of the YWCA Auckland's Future Leaders programme.
This
means that you are a young woman with considerable potential in
leadership.
The Future Leaders programme
is committed to developing young leaders who not only have credibility
and integrity, but who can provide inspiration, stimulation, and
information and can motivate other young people around them. The
YWCA Auckland wants to develop confident and passionate young people
who will help others to achieve and become leaders and role models
in their communities.

As a representative of
your school and the YWCA Auckland Future Leaders programme, there
are the usual standards of conduct and behaviour expected of you.
You will be asked to sign
a contract when you join the programme.
The key expectations
to note are:
- Good behaviour at all times
- Refrain from swearing and violence
- No alcohol or drugs will be tolerated
- Correct school uniform to be worn on outings as requested
- You must meet with your mentor and maintain regular contact
with your mentor as agreed in your contract
- You will set goals for each 12 month period
- You must meet with the Programme Director, or coordinators
as requested
- You must complete an annual evaluation
- You must attend the annual Leadership Forum
- You will be required to complete 20 hours of community service
- You will be monitored by a points system. You must attain a
minimum total each year to continue on the programme.
There will be numerous
activities available for you to participate in.
These might include:
- A self-development leadership camp
- miscellaneous workshops and seminars
- Attending a function
- Being asked to speak at a function
- Picnics and fun activities
You will have a wise
and trusted adult friend with whom you can talk and share your dreams.
She will keep your confidences. She will help open doors to new
experiences, and different activities.
Most of all, you will have a lot of fun.
Our our aim is for you to reach your highest potential and realise
your dreams.
